The Screen Designer
The screen designer is a Windows and Linux application which can connect to an SDC device and provides some viusal editing of the pages, gauges and their properties. This can be used instead of editing an XML file in a text editor, but you can only do this if you have WIFI Connected or you have a wired network connection to your Pi. Obviously, once in the car a wired connection is unlikely but you can of course make good use of it prior to installation or if you have a second device to use on your desktop.
The screen designer comes as part of the SDC Toolkit, which provides the following features:
- Detect running SDC devices connected to the network
- Quick access to a telnet session (this requires installing Putty and setting up some saved connections)
- ECU Table generator (for using with the MapGauge gauge type)
- Boot Image patcher for adding a custom boot image to the screen
- Screen Designer
The SDC toolkit can be found in the Downloads section
Visual Editing
In order to provide visual editing, the screen designer uses your Pi running SDC as the display. Therefore you must have a display connected to your pi in order to be able to see what you are doing.
