SDC Version 1.60 Release notes

Fixes

  • This release has been produced in order to include a more recent version of the Raspberry Pi firmware. This firmware is required to ensure that more recent devices will boot SDC. If you have a Raspberry Pi that will boot PiOS, but will not boot SDC (the green LED flashes a sequence often 4 long 7 short or similar) then this update is probably what you need to get it going.

If you already have a working SDC release on version 1.55, then you do not need to upgrade, although there is no harm in doing so. The SDC Tools based upgrade does contain the new Pi firmware as well as the new SDC binary.

  • A bug which occasionally caused software upgrades installed via SDC Tools to fail, particularly when multiple files are involved, has been fixed.

As this bug will be present in the release you are already running and the upgrade this time contains about 20 files, then you may have trouble updating to 1.60 using SDC Tools. If this happens you may need to install 1.60 by copying the files in the release zip file (not the upgrade zip file) to the SD card. Do not overwrite the following files to keep your existing configuration:

    • \sdc.ini
    • \wpa_supplicant.conf
    • \config.txt

And be careful not to overwrite any other files you have created which have same names as the ones in the release. If in doubt, back up your entire SD card first. You can selectively copy back anything which needs to be restored afterwards.

SDC Tools

There are no changes to SDC tools for this release. The existing release of SDC Tools, version 1.55, is compatible with this release.

Upgrading from SDC 1.55

To perform an upgrade from SDC 1.55 you can download the upgrade zip file, extract it to a temporary folder, and use the SDC Tools ‘Software Update’ feature. This process will upgrade both the SDC binary and the Pi firmware.
