Getting Started

There are a number of things you need to do to get the system up and running. I have tried to make it as simple as possible but unfortunately making it plug and play is not possible, not least due to the variation of ECUs available. If you install the software and boot it you will see a demo mode complete with internally played back Speeduino data. To get live data directly from your own ECU you will need to carry out the following tasks:

Some features are not available with the Evaluation license, such as CANBus support

  • For Speeduino serial, connect the Pi’s serial port safely to the Speeduino’s secondary serial port. You can do this using an SDC I/O Hat
  • For CAN based ECU’s, connect the CAN High and CAN Low and set termination resistors appropriately. You can do this using an SDC I/O Hat
  • Install the software on a blank SD card
  • Possibly enter some initial configuration parameters (depends upon what sort of ECU etc)
  • Configure WIFI support
  • Optionally (but recommended) set up Controlled Shutdown

After that you should be able to boot the Pi and see data coming from your ECU.

To get data from other ECUs over CANBus, please see the sections on CANBus DBC support and/or CANBus Support
